Chris Salt is a UK based composer committed to delivering quality, creative solutions for a broad range of media sources. He set up the music production house Riffs in 2000.

Chris attended the Royal College of Music where he studied guitar with Patrick Bashford and composition with Justin Connolly. After graduating with an ARCM and DipRCM in performing, he furthered his studies at Keele university where he gained an MA in Modern Music. Shortly after this he decided to pursue composition exclusively.

Chris originally started out writing mainly for commercials and in 2003 moved into writing production music. He now has over 400 tracks in circulation worldwide published by the world's leading music libraries including EMI Production Music, Boosey & Hawkes, De Wolfe and Focus.

His music has been used in Hollywood films (Lakeview Terrace starring Samuel L. Jackson for example), on movie trailers (such as Sky's recent 'History Vs Hollywood' promo) as well as TV promos for a range of shows including Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Dancing With The Stars and Grey's Anatomy.

Chris Salt's music has been used on hundreds of popular TV shows such as The Jay Leno Show, America's Most Wanted, Top Gear, Panorama and Horizon. Current/recent ads using his music include Head & Shoulders, Fairy 'Platinum', TRESemme, Pantene, Chrysler, Oral B, Olay, The Sunday Times, The Mail On Sunday, Dentyne, KFC, Lidl Supermarkets and 32Red.com. He has also provided bespoke music for leading brands such as Microsoft, Carphone Warehouse, Proctor & Gamble and Vodafone.

Chris specializes in two main areas: retro music (using authentic vintage keyboards, guitars and amps) and a classical style which features subtle electronic elements combined with real instruments (usually small chamber string ensembles). His recent work can be heard on Piano Worlds, Cinematic Motion and Intelligent Universe (EMI Production Music) and Retro Grooves (De Wolfe).
